Temptation is simply irresistible. Illusion often augments the process of enticement to indulge in something that eventually beckons a status of peril without any second thought! People who are vulnerable or rather have a less control over their emotive vibes fall into this snare, quite unknowingly at times! Little do they know what is in store for them!
The episode of #golden #deer in Ramayana has a lesson to teach. Sita, during her incognito was lured by the golden deer, who was actually Marich, the son of Taraka, the terror to the sages of the time. Marich desired to avenge Rama and therefore disguised himself as a golden deer to complete his cycle of revenge with Ravana, the Lord of Lanka. Sita insisted on Rama to catch her the golden deer but he tried his best to make Sita realise that it was just an illusion! Seeing no other option, Rama went out to catch the deer and ordered Laxman to keep a watch on Sita. But destiny had a different story to weave. Rama, being unable to catch the golden deer, shot at him and in a nano second, Marich came to his original form and shouted:”Laxman, my brother save me. I am in deep trouble”. A massive trick which had a heavy toll upon their lives. Sita heard the cry and urged Laxman to protect Rama. But Laxman kept on telling Sita that nothing had happened to his brother. It might be a monster imitating the voice of Rama to wrap up the whole ambience with the tool of ‘Maya’. Sita refused to listen to Laxman and chastised him. Circumstances obliged Laxman to leave Sita alone in the hut. But before the act, Laxman ensured a complete protection to Sita. Ravana, on the other hand made the best use of the golden opportunity. Disguised as a sage, Lankesh visited Sita and using his power of hypnotic spell stole Sita and carried her to Lanka. She was confined at Ashok Vatika.
The entire episode encapsulates the timeless greed of even the divine beings. Temptation can even mislead a divine entity. Sita is believed to be the incarnation of Mahalaxmi, the divine consort of Lord Vishnu. But she too was bewildered and believed that perception was the only source of knowledge. However, in reality it is not so! A single mistake in the steps of life can make one count a heavy cost! No doubt, Rama defeated Ravana and rescued Sita from the bondage, but what about the separation which both of them had to endure for that golden deer! After all that glitters is not gold!!
