The expression ” Peeth” means throne where the Goddess sits with great honour and glory, showering blessings on her devotees. However, the number of Peeths differ from one to another. Moreover, twenty six upo peeths have been added to the religious texts to cater a complete religious favour to the readers. In each and every Peeth the Goddess is worshipped in her own way. Mahadeva is also adored by his devotees. After all Shiva and Shakti always complement each other to ensure the spread of cosmic vibration in the whole universe. Your worship might remain incomplete if you do not witness the black stone image of Lord Shiva.
Let us begin this religious Odyssey with Devi Kamakshya. The Goddess’ vagina is worshipped here. Her temple is situation on the mountain tops in Assam. As she fulfills the wishes of her true devotees She is known by this name.
