Their term of exile was over. The seed of the war was sowed. The count down began for it to germinate to expunge the evils from the earth and restore Dharma once again! Both Duryodhana and Arjun went to the Lord Krishna to seek his help in the imminent war!
The Lord was having a sound sleep in his palace. Duryodhana went inside and sat on a throne placed near his head. A little later Arjuna arrived, touched the lotus feet of the Lord and sat near his feet. After a while the Lord woke up and his eyes fell on Arjuna! As a conversation between the two pious souls was about to kick off, Duryodhana intervened and told the Lord that he was the first to arrive! However, Krishna cordially greeted them. Both had nurtured the desire of having the Lord in the warfare! Krishna gave them a proposal. On one hand he was there and on the other his Narayani army. But the Lord would not pick up any weapon in the battle field. Duryodhana, thinking himself to be a very cunning soul gave the chance to Arjun to pour out his heart, after being advised by the Lord as Arjuna was younger to him! Arjuna desired the Lord and Duryodhana his Narayani army! Both went back happily. Duryodhana was pretty sure of his victory in the war as he managed to get the Lord’s army! Moreover, the Lord would remain weaponless in the battle. Shakuni chastised Duryodhana for making the wrong choice. He also told him that he was a fool as nothing could be compared with the power and valour of Krishna, not even his mighty Narayani army! The fat headed, jealous and irrational Duryodhana realised it, but it was too late! And as usual a sense of vanity worked in him.
Forsooth self pride and arrogance never allow one to view the eternal truth. The veil of falsehood keeps one content, despite all odds. The Lord is the Preserver of the cosmos. He is equivalent to millions and millions of warriors in any war. Nothing can stop his ways and means to control his creation. He is above all the mortal illusions and during the hours of crisis, he descends from his heavenly abode for its salvation, something which Duryodhana flunked to make out on that day!!
