I met her in the garden of her palace,
Richly bred,
Graceful gesture,
Gracious silence,
Maintained always,
Amid the multitude,
Amid the celebration of life,
Of colours,
Of resplendence!!
Yet a confinement,
Priggish thoughts plagued her soul,
Desired to quit,
To mingle her echoes with the natural waves!
I received her epistle,
deluged with emotive radiance,
A trepidation worked though –
Extracted from the common folk!
Love ingrained optimism,
Shell was pulled off!
In the darkest hour of the night,
We met,
Embraced,
Held our palms,
And escaped the royal barriers,
In that moon awash nocturnal moments!
The night melted into dawn,
Twittering of birds,
Tiny ripples lapped up the shore,
And our feet were touched by the watery grains!
She looked at the horizon,
Pointed and showed me –
Beyond the obvious realm.
We once more embraced,
Loved one another,
The best wealth believed we,
Nature moulded in us,
Promised to live a life,
Not of palatial luxury,
Not of imperial glitz,
Of simplicity!
She smiled enigmatically,
I was persuaded –
Though not so much!
She was my girl friend,
A person of yesterday,
A memory of yesterday,
Yet –
An anguish of today!!
