Hands
Sujatha Sairam
This world would be so lifeless without communication,
The Maker bestowed us with the power of speech for conversation
But not all times do we need a verbal platform,
Hands too have their own language ,
The hand paints pen pictures of the heart,
These may be of hands that have toiled for the loved ones,
The dry, cracked hands of farmers satiate our hunger,
The parched hands of civic workers keep us healthy
It can even be the hands of a brave heart who’s picked up the weapon
He stands day and night at the border
His sole motto is tisafeguard the country,
Hands stretched out to give away in charity,
Hands folded in prayer are the ones that make life meaningful,
Blessed are we for we are gifted abundantly
With numerous ways of expression.
